Saturday Night

There’s a particular kind of hush on the night before worship. Not the hush of nothing happening — the hush of everything getting ready to happen. The lights will come on tomorrow, the doors will open, and people carrying more than you’ll ever know will walk in looking for something steady and fulfilling. Tonight is the last quiet before that.

Tonight really isn’t for polishing, it’s for praying over the names you know will be in those seats. For sitting in the quiet instead of filling it. For remembering that tomorrow isn’t yours to carry alone.

Sleep well. Morning is coming, and so is the gathering. DB
